I am sorry to anyone visiting that there have not been any new posts for a short time.  Unfortunately, I am having a tough time with my epilepsy at the moment and so haven’t been very well.  I have been working on some new content though so please keep looking.

Thank you very much for your support.

Training Plans

A training plan is the foundation of your workouts.  Depending on what your goals are, everyone’s plan will be different.  My plan at the moment is based around the aim of muscle growth and so is aimed at low repetitions with a high weight.  I have mixed my plan up a little lately though and am only training one muscle group in a session, to really focus on it and train it to failure.  I recently read a quote by Arnold Schwarzenegger, who said he would train past the point of initial failure, whereas most people would stop there.

I was most people until I read that.  The final rep that would hurt, that I would struggle to do, would be my last.  But not now.  I go past that point.  Even one or two more reps, sometimes more, I find are now possible.  Amazing what you can perform when you push past your limits.  As I have said before, if you are training to failure, please ensure you are working with a partner for safety reasons.

So the plan I am working to at the moment has consisted of: Bicep, Tricep, Chest, Legs, Shoulders and then Traps.  What I have also done is to on days when I’m working a large muscle group i.e. back, is to at the end of the session to do one solitary exercise for a isolated muscle, like bicep or tricep, to complete failure, to keep it ‘guessing’ all the time.  I always allow at least 48 hours rest  between training a particular muscle group, for example if I train Biceps then I won’t train Biceps again in any way for at least 48 hours.  This is an adaption of a plan I have read about and so may be unconventional on first impressions but I am giving it a try and will keep you updated.  If you have any comments on this, good or bad, they are always received.  Also if you have any plans of your own you’d like to submit, I am thinking of making a specific section for people to refer to.

Many thanks and happy training.
